As provided for in the Diocese’s constitution, the second Community Council – in office from 1982-1984 – decided to collect a church membership fee from all Armenian individuals aged 21 and above, regardless of their confessional belonging.
This difference with other Armenian communities around the world stems from the consideration of the community’s modest size to ensure that its Catholic and Protestant members have equal rights to their Orthodox peers to participate in the organization of community life. In its turn, the seating Community Council paid its first annual dues to the Catholicossate in 1987 and annually thereafter.
