The preparation for this year’s Euro Armenian Games in Barcelona started quite early…. The team started training in October 2013 and rented for this purpose a Futsal court in Barsha.
The enthusiast of the team during training was overwhelming and it continued all the way through the preparation for the tournament. On Easter Week End of April 2014, the team flew to Barcelona and was ready for the games. The Draw put Dubai team in the same group with Sasun-Lugano, Beirut-1, Barcelona AGBU and Paris-2.
The team won the first 3 games and gathered 9 points and was close to qualifying to the next round but one of the team in the group withdrew from the competition. The organizers instead of canceling all the results of that team in the Group, cancelled only the upcoming games which resulted in distortions in goal averages and unfortunately had our team disqualified from going to the next round despite having the same points as the 2 other qualified teams from our group.
Despite the unfair disqualification the team kept very high spirit and pledged to be ready for the next tournament and be stronger and better than ever. On a different note the team bonded together and there was a great spirit of solidarity between the players which played an instrumental role in leaving remarkable and unforgettable souvenirs…
Now that the team is back , trainings resumed and preparation for the future is continuing in a great atmosphere….. Watch out for the Dubai Armenian Futsal team….
