The Armenian School in Dubai and the Northern Emirates was established in 1980 by the first Armenian Community Council and has successfully flourished since then.

After renting schools for 18 years the Armenian Community Council constructed an own building housing the School in the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church complex  thanks to the contribution of our school’s benefactors  Mr. and Mrs. Harout Ohannesian.

Having and operating from our own premises greatly improved the school’s administrative, educational and organizational structure and helped us cater to the educational needs of nearly 180 students.

The Armenian student body of the Ohannesian Armenian Weekly School is a reflection of our community’s composition. It comes from originally Armenian yet multi-nationally diverse cultures brought to the United Arab Emirates by our fellow Armenians from Armenia a myriad of elected countries of abode from around the world.

The mission of the Ohannesian Armenian Weekly School is to prepare new generations of young Armenians to live according to our religious beliefs and to preserve and enhance our multi millenary rich Armenian heritage in history, language and culture. Moreover, the school endeavours to instil a sense of community responsibility by promoting the concept of benevolent service.

Education is currently provided by an experienced team of approximately 25 benevolent teachers and headmistress. The teachers’ body regularly attends training courses to improve their skills and performance and use specially designed teaching programs, textbooks and material under the supportive guidance of a headmistress and a specially appointed School Board of Trustees who are overseen by the Armenian Community Council in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
