Grape Blessing is one of the most beloved ceremonies in the history of the Armenian Apostolic Church. This occasion is held on a major feast day called Assumption of St. Mary and contains a wonderful insight, unique to Christianity.
On the day of the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother-of-God, the blessing of grapes takes place immediately after the Divine Liturgy. The ceremony is rich in symbolism and emphasizes the important role of Virgin Mary in the revelation of God
Usually this occasion is held on the Sunday closest to August 15; however; this year with coordination between The Council of the Armenian Community and the Church Council of St. Gregory the Illuminator; our Church celebrated this occasion in July; in the presence of our community members who attended and listened the reading and preaching of the Very Rev. Father Mesrob Sarkissian.
